How you can help
Give me Land

Please read this note from Jackie, our founder, about our need for your ideas and help in securing more land for our horses.

Cash donations are always very welcome. We always need to buy hay, gas for our vehicles, fencing supplies and vet supplies amongst other expenses. We also need to pay for vehicle repairs and for the lease on some of the land we rent.

Another way to help support our horses is to sponsor one of them. Each horse needs at least 2 sponsors in order to cover their feed and vet bills and so the more sponsors we get, the more horses we can help. See our Sponsor page for more information. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and so all donations are tax deductible. We have a gallery page and a bookstore and by purchasing artwork or a book those proceeds help support our horses too.

URGENT

What we desperately need is more land. In order to continue to help our mustangs and keep them roaming on the range year round, we must have additional acreage. We have a foundation piece of land, 1,100 acres at Watrous along the old route of the Santa Fe Trail, but we are looking for funds to expand on this to create a much larger land preserve. This way our horses, and perhaps more in the future, can graze year round without risk of overgrazing the fragile prairie. There are 1000's of acres for sale all around our foundation piece and we would love to be able to preserve this historical land from development and keep it wild (complete with wagon ruts left behind by the long ago wagons of the Santa Fe Trail). Please see our short youtube presentation about Watrous, the land, the Santa Fe Trail and our reserve.

We are hoping to either buy the land ourselves or for somebody else to buy it and allow us to use it. There are all kinds of tax incentives available for somebody who would be interested in doing this, especially if they wanted to place the land into the 'New Mexico Land Conservancy.' Please contact us for more details about all of these benefits.

One other way that you, or somebody you know, can help is if you own a large piece of land and are willing to host a small band of wild horses. We take birth control seriously and so this band would not grow, but if you have a piece of land that could easily sustain a small herd of horses and you would like to make a home for them, please let us know!
